Acupressure

AcupressureAcupressure is a complementary medicine technique derived from acupuncture. In Acupressure, physical pressure is applied to acupuncture points by the thumbs, hands or other devices instead of needles used by Acupuncture.

Acupressure is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), where Chi (Qi) flows through the body via 14 meridians or channels. To strengthen the flow of Qi or to remove blockages in the meridians, pressure is applied on the skin at specific points (acupoints) along the channels. There are 400-500 named acupoints along the meridians, some of which are associated with specific internal organs or systems.

The benefits of Acupressure include pain relief, balancing the body and maintaining good health. It also reduces tension, increases circulation and stimulates the body's own healing response.
